By Misty Harris MEN are increasingly enhancing their speech with the kind of virile verbiage you might hear uttered by an action hero with a fine arts degree. Words such as mancation (a male-bonding getaway), bromance (the platonic love between two "hetero life-mates") and power tool (a guy who has achieved wealth or status despite being a complete jerk) are the male language-lover's answer to driving a Mercedes, instantly communicating masculine savvy without giving the appearance of trying too hard. The emergence of this man-centric lexicon is being documented by New York magazine's Daniel Maurer, whose upcoming glossary of guyspeak -- tentatively titled Brocabulary -- makes clear there's more to being macho than watching Ultimate Fighting and drinking from the milk carton. "When men use (brocabulary), it's an indication they're on the same page, which is something guys are concerned about when they're talking or getting beers," explains Maurer. Concord Watch "They want to know they're on the same level and speaking the same language -- which is, obviously, the masculine language." Maurer says brocabulary also has the added benefit of letting "you get away with bad behaviour more, because you have a funny way to describe" your actions. To illustrate, he cites the term "bangover" as a way of recalling a night embroidered patches of excessive *** with a one-night stand.
